FBI Fingerprinting

We perform fingerprinting for FBI and can work with you to request an Identity History Summary often referred to a Criminal History Record.

FBI can provide individuals with an Identity History Summary taken from fingerprint submissions kept by the FBI and related to arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization, or military service..

The Identity History Summary includes the name of the agency that submitted the fingerprints to the FBI, the date of the arrest, the arrest charge, and the disposition of the arrest, if known. All arrest information included in an Identity History Summary is obtained from fingerprint submissions, disposition reports, and other information submitted by authorized criminal justice agencies. 

If there is no criminal record then this Identity History Summary is proof that none exists.

We at Roots Fingerprinting Services support two methods of submitting your fingerprints to FBI

1. Digital Fingerprinting - This service is only available to US Citizens and Green Card Holders.

Your fingerprints are taken digitally using our live scan device. The fingerprints are submitted electronically to the FBI for processing. 

The current processing time for electronic submission is 3-5 business days upon receipt of the prints not including the time for mail delivery.

2. Manual Fingerprinting by Mail  - Your fingerprints are placed on a Standard Fingerprint Form (FD 258) on standard white paper stock. The submission must include rolled impressions of all 10 fingerprints taken at the same time. 

The current processing time for submission by mail is 2-4 weeks, including additional time for mail delivery.

Our services only include providing fingerprints on FD 258 form. 

You must complete an additional Application Information Form and optional Credit Card Payment form when submitting fingerprints  by mail.
